 Welcome to Kidz Chorus!

A brand new after-school choir, open to children in years 1-6. We provide a fun, high quality, inclusive and musical group using our voices and bodies as instruments.

WHEN AND WHERE?

***PLEASE NOTE SESSION 1 IS FULL WITH A WAITING LIST*** SPACES AVAILABLE IN SESSION 2

Thursdays after school:

SESSION 1: 3:30-4:30pm, St Thomas's Church, Telford Avenue. Collection from Telferscot at 3:20pm by Ruth Routledge and parent volunteers.

SESSION 2: 4:40-5:30pm St Thomas's Church, Telford Avenue.

TERM DATES:

Starting Thursday 17th September to Thursday 10th December inclusive (12 sessions). No session in Half Term.

PERFORMANCE:

There will be a performance on the last session of term Thursday 10th December at around 4pm. Exact details TBC.

HOW MUCH?

£60/child for the term, 20% sibling discount £48 for the term.

To increase accessibility for everyone, especially in these challenging times Kidz Chorus is also available on Zoom with Session 2 being streamed. There is no fixed price for this but please make a donation to contribute and make sure you email me to be sent the Zoom link: ruth@pramchorus.com

WHO?

Kidz Chorus will be led by Telferscot parent and musician, Ruth Routledge. Ruth has vast experience of choir and group-leading in educational settings, having worked for the Southbank’s Voicelab Project (which Telferscot participated in!); running creative educational projects with Choir Community at Chelsea Academy and City Heights Academy; teaching musicianship, piano and singing for Wandsworth Music and Richmond Music Trust. She has a recent DBS and is a member of the Musician’s Union, Association of British Choral Directors and the Natural Voice Network.

Ruth believes in the power of music to support young people’s personal growth as well as their mental health and wellbeing. She works by building on children’s existing skills, talents and capabilities they can achieve both their musical and human potential, so that they develop their voices, musicality, confidence, team-work and empathy.

KIDZ CHORUS ….

  • Is currently open to Max 15 children per session.

  • Children will learn: healthy/age-appropriate vocal technique, a wide variety of songs from different genres and cultures (eg Pop, World, Folk and more), rhythm and beat-boxing, participate in regular performances.

  • Children will be supported and encouraged to take on and develop appropriate leading roles within the group eg supporting younger members, taking registers, leading simple games/activities.

  • Has an inclusive, supportive and positive ethos taking different abilities, learning styles and ages into account.

  • Will provide a risk assessment, COVID-19 policy, child protection policy and health and safety policies to be available to parents at www.pramchorus.com/kcpolicies.
